No problem: It opened OK and pre-flight, package and pdf export all as desired. I created another user account gave it necessary privileges restarted in that account, and opened the file I wanted to send off. Inspiration during the night resolved my immediate problem: getting file to printers this morning. P.S.: I'll post this to the Adobe Support Forum site, too. But not any that I'd created before then - LIKE THE ONE I'VE GOT TO GET TO THE PRINTERS TOMORROW MORNING!!! But if I do delete those Library files first, I can re-launch and then open any file created since the first crash. This applies even to the simplest of files which, as far as I can remember, have not got any images or other files linked to them.Īfter failing to open any of these earlier files, and force-quitting, I have to delete the same Library files before I can re-launch InDesign without the same crash/non-response reaction. II can quit InDesign, re-launch it and open such new files.īut if I try to open ANY earlier file - LIKE THE ONE I'VE GOT TO GET TO THE PRINTERS TOMORROW MORNING!!! - ID crashes/fails to respond and I have to force-quit. This didn't seem to make any difference.)Īfter deleting the above Library files, I can open InDesign and then open any NEW files I have created since the FIRST crash. (I then also tried (3) Deleting Username>Library>Preferences>. This enabled me to open InDesign, and to create a new document, which I could save. (I tried the first one first, on its own, and then both.) (2) Deleting Username>Library>Preferences>Adobe InDesign>Version 5.0 folder and all its contents. (1) Deleting Username>Library>Caches>Adobe InDesign>Version 5.0 folder and all its contents. I checked the Adobe Support Forum website and tried the following: When I tried to re-open InDesign, it wanted to recover the document I had been using. I just assumed it was my user dictionary. (Doubt: I did not check which dictionary I was asking to add the word to. especially if it is quick!Īdobe InDesign (CS3) first crashed (or, rather, ceased responding) when I was using its Spelling feature and I clicked on Add, to add a word to the user dictionary. I hope it explains my problem and what I have tried, without me having to re-write it for this forum. (I sent the first in a crash report to Apple, too.) It may be relevant to note my three recent messages to the Adobe Forum, re crashing (or failure to respond) of InDesign CS3.
